Modular Wiring Systems UsedModular Wiring Systems Used At Kings Cross Station

Modular Wiring Systems, a subsidiary of electrical cable manufacturer Tratos Ltd, has designed, manufactured and supplied modular power and lighting distribution systems for Kings Cross Station in London, a Grade I listed building. Working to English Heritage’s strict guidelines to protect the station building, Modular Wiring Systems has designed the distribution systems to run mainly under-floor through key parts of the Western Range. Such restrictions require exceptional system flexibility, which was found in the products and design process. Other benefits of a modular wiring system are quick installation with reduced labour, whilst improving the quality of the finished system as potential risks posed by on-site conditions are eliminated.

Leaning Brick Panels SecuredLeaning Brick Panels Secured On Large Commercial Building

The outer leaf brick panels on two main elevations at the Johnson & Johnson Vision Centre in Sunbury on Thames were leaning outwards, becoming progressively worse and raising safety concerns. Constructed just 25 years ago, weak galvanised wire ‘butterfly’ ties had been used which were not
strong enough to support the outer wall. Over 5,000 stainless steel RetroTies from Helifix provided a rapid and reliable solution. Inserted through clearance holes in the brickwork and driven into inner leaf pilot holes, the ties were then resin bonded into the outer leaf to fully secure the brick panels.

KAC Manual Call PointsKAC Manual Call Points For Legacy Mains Voltage Fire Systems

The latest addition to KAC’s range of manual call points for specialist applications is the MCP6V, an indoor call point for flush or surface mounting that will switch up to 2A at 240VAC mains voltage. Whilst the majority of fire systems in Europe and around the world operate at 24VDC, there are a significant number of legacy mains voltage systems still in commission. The MCP6V is a specially terminated unit fitted with a mains voltage microswitch. Externally identical in size and user interface with the normal low voltage version, featuring warning signs, visible when the operating cassette is removed, to alert installers and service engineers to the presence of high voltage.
