Nullifire Supplies Fire-Stopping To Prestige Swansea Development
Nullifire has supplied a range of fire-stopping products for retro-fitting to a new apartment building at Swansea’s extensive waterfront redevelopment, SA1.
A survey had found that while some fire protection had been installed it was not up to the 60 minutes fire rating required.
The main problem was fire-stopping installed in the service risers which appeared to be inadequately protected to prevent fire spreading from floor to floor. To remedy the situation, R Lewis, a third-party accredited installer, was employed to retro-fit a range of Nullifire products in the two risers up to and including the seventh floor. All work was carried out while the building was occupied.

Memco Launches Elevator Position System
Memco’s Elevator Position System provides information to an elevator’s displays about floor number, direction arrow and the direction of travel; this is then seen by passengers on the car display screen. A magnet is
located on each floor and, as a sensor attached to the elevator car passes a magnet, it increases or decreases the floor number depending on the direction of travel.
The Elevator Position System works in tandem with an elevator display screen and customers can order from a variety of packages, some of which include screens and accessories, to suit their application and assist in making ordering as efficient as possible.

The Safe Tool For Tooling
Global tool manufacturer Sandvik Coromant has installed black Vynagrip matting with yellow edging in its Cirencester works. Manufactured by Plastic Extruders, the matting provides employees working in the large production areas with a safe and slip resistant surface underfoot.
Vynagrip covers the factory floor with its yellow edging clearly delineating the safe walkway. The matting was chosen for this application because it can be loose laid and contours over rough and uneven floors which is ideal where floor levels change, slope or cross thresholds. Importantly, the matting is very hard wearing, can be easily rolled up to facilitate cleaning, and helps combat the problems of standing fatigue over prolonged periods.
