The Association of Building Engineers (ABE) is pleased to announce that David Michael Lush OBE has been presented the 2010 Peter Stone Award.

At a ceremony, held at the House of Lords on 12 February, Mr Lush formally received his award from Beryl Menzies, President of the ABE.

David has over fifty years experience in co-ordinating interfaces between electrical and mechanical design disciplines, in order to achieve integrated design solutions. He has specialised in all aspects of energy conservation and environmental issues. The application of control and automation systems for building services has been an abiding interest throughout his career. This has encompassed fire, security and information technology systems, smart and intelligent building systems, facilities management and the criteria necessary for creating a comfortable and healthy working environment.

For many years he has been involved in the affairs of the professional institutions and construction industry bodies. Latterly, he has participated in the preparation of Building Regulations and the various functions of the private and public sector Building Control Bodies. The Peter Stone Award is a chance for the Association to reward Mr Lush for all his hard work in these areas and to give him the recognition that he so rightly deserves.

The Peter Stone Award is one the Associations most prestigious awards, presented in memory of a greatly respected former President of the Association. The award is presented to a person, company or organisation that through invention, research, design, publicity, education, training or any other related activity has, in the opinion of the Awards Panel, made a significant contribution to the advancement of building engineering.
