New Year Statement

New Year Statement Image

We believe we may have started the New Year on a high.

We have had a very positive meeting with representatives from the Engineering Council and are hoping to progress to Professional Affiliate status shortly.

Next month we have our AGM and voting papers have been sent out to all Corporate members. Please use your vote, it is important we know what our members want. The vote this year does not just include the election of officers, but extends to the proposal to change the Association’s Articles and Bye-laws. To remind yourself of the proposed changes, please view the information here.

Communications in 2012 will continue to improve with the launch of phase two of our new website. This will include a member’s only area, an interactive member’s directory and will provide you with the opportunity to book events online. These will be available in due course as there is quite a lot of work involved in building these areas.

We are actively working on a Membership Recruitment campaign. Consider this – if every member encourages one colleague to join this year, we could have in excess of 12,000 members by December. Have a look around and consider who would benefit from membership of the Association.

We will continue in 2012 to reinforce our green commitment by performing more tasks and increasing our electronic communications. and we also expect to achieve ISO9002 and ISO14002. We are already documenting all of our procedures and are working with Construction Industry Quality Assurance (CIQA) to achieve these quality standards.

2012 will be another difficult year, but I am optimistic about the future for building engineers and the ABE.

Please support your ABE so we can support you.

I feel privileged to be taking the ABE into 2012 and wish you all a very happy New Year.

John
