What is Professional Indemnity Insurance?

Professional Indemnity Insurance is civil liability cover for any alleged or actual breach of, or error in the professional services you provide including any breach in your duty of care.

Why Do I Need Professional Indemnity Insurance?

Any person(s) whom provides advice, valuations, surveys, designs or similar services in a professional capacity, is seen by clients as an expert. In these times of high consumer awareness, clients will not hesitate to pursue a claim if they feel that they have received sub-standard service. There is no doubt, that any business that provides advice or offers similar services to clients, needs the protection a Professional Indemnity policy provides.

Duty of Care

If a person undertakes to provide advice or services to another and then carries out that work negligently, then they may be held liable for the results.  Normally such advice or service is provided under the terms of a contract; liability can arise either because there has been a breach of contract or because there is a breach of duty of care.

The Cover

The Professional Indemnity policy that Morgans provides will indemnify you against losses arising by reason of any neglect, error or omission. It is important to remember that the professional may not have breached his duty of care, but still requires cover for the defence of any such claims. The policy not only covers defence costs, but it would also pay or any damages and claimants costs should they be awarded against the insured professional.

The Association of Building Engineers is pleased to support Morgan Brokers Ltd, however alternative providers of Professional Indemnity Insurance are available and may provide a more competitive quote.
