ABE Announces merger with IMBM

The Association of Building Engineers is pleased to announce the merger with the Institute of Maintenance and Building Management and welcomes members that have been transferred. The Association looks forward to enhancing its service provision to cover the building and maintenance aspects of the industry.

Guidance for Members transferring from IMBM

Designations Your IMBM designations will cease to exist. We would appreciate if you could commence use of the new designations as per your grade of membership (see below) with immediate effect. A membership certificate will be issued within the next eight weeks. This process will be carried out once full integration of the membership data has taken place. Fellow - FBEng Member - MBEng Associate - ABEng Graduate - GradBEng Technician, Student and Affiliate Member classes do not carry designations with the Association of Building Engineers.

Codes of Professional Conduct As a Member of the Association of Building Engineers, you will be required to abide by the ABE Codes of Professional Conduct. They represent the minimum standard required of members. Please visit: http://www.abe.org.uk/membership/cpc

ABE Logos/Stationery Corporate Members i.e. Members or Fellows of the Association are entitled to include in the design of their professional note paper and other display material the ABE logo. The artwork and further details regarding its use can be obtained from ABE Marketing Coordinator, Katie Di Stefano. Please cease to make use of the IMBM logos.

Service Provision to Members As a member of the Association of Building Engineers you will immediately benefit from the following service provision.

Building Engineer - is the monthly journal of the Association of Building Engineers. It contains technical updates, news and details of the Association activities.

Training Prospectus - is a quarterly publication which is circulated to members. It contains details of CPD initiatives and development opportunities. Members are required to maintain their technical currency and undertake a minimum of 35 hours per year.

Private Practice Register - as a member of the Association, you will be entitled to register your services on the private practice register. We will shortly be writing to all members with further details.

Training Discounts - ABE offer a wide range of Continuing Professional Development, ranging from seminars, conferences to sponsored CPD. You will benefit from the discounts immediately.

Regions - We are committed to the working with a regional structure. We would like to re-assure you that the current CPD programme that has been put in place through the IMBM regional structure will be maintained.

Membership Upgrades - We have received a number of enquiries in relation to membership upgrades. All upgrades and applications will be processed via the normal ABE entry routes and will be subject to the existing entry routes of the ABE. Information is provided in the training prospectus and on the website http://www.abe.org.uk/membership/membership-routes.
