BSc (Hons) Building Engineering

In addition to the popular BSc (Hons) Building Engineering Degree, the ABE is now pleased to offer a BSc (Hons) Building Control Engineering Degree.

Both degree programmes have been developed in conjunction with the Professor of Building Engineering Paul Watson and his team at Sheffield Hallam University, and are designed to meet the Quality Assurance Agency's subject benchmark for graduates in Building and Surveying. Members will have the opportunity to gain knowledge on the learning outcomes for Building Engineers as defined by the Construction Industry Board (CIB) Educational Framework. The award is validated by Sheffield Hallam University.

Benefits

The programmes enable ABE members, at both associate and corporate levels, to:

The courses increase your understanding of research methods. Students learn through:

This improves skills in the Building Engineering area.

Delivery

The course leader for each programme, Norman Watts, leads a team of tutors to deliver the course modules at the ABE Headquarters in Northampton. The Association of Building Engineers is responsible for the hosting and delivery of the programme. Delivery of lectures, tutorials and seminars is offered on a part-time basis and each taught session takes place over a Friday and Saturday morning. Both programmes have been designed so that candidates can start the programme in any semester and complete the course in approximately an 18-month period. Thus a candidate starting in September 2008 would complete the third semester by December 2009, whereas a candidate starting in February 2009 would complete the third semester by May 2010. The dates for the forthcoming programmes will be as per the booking form.
