What is an NVQ?
An NVQ is a National Vocational Qualification agreed and accredited by the Qualifications Curriculum Authority (QCA). NVQ's have been designed to aid individuals currently working in industry in obtaining a qualification relevant to the role which they currently undertake, and which can run alongside work activities enabling individuals to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding whilst progressing their career in full time employment.
Why do I need an NVQ?

Professionals should be able to exhibit both academic and vocational expertise.

A National Vocational Qualification, being work based, peer supported, assessed and externally verified by an Awarding Body is an ideal route to show that an individual can deliver real work within a real work environment.

Employers in the future may be looking for greater work based evidence supported by academic achievement.

How much will it cost?
How long will it take me?
We aim to get candidates through their chosen qualification within 12 months from their initial introductory day. Individual programmes timescale reflects commitment, employer support and effective participation in the range of underpinning activities that the Association offers. In extenuating circumstances an individual's course can be extended beyond the 12 month period.
How will my work be assessed?
A portfolio of evidence accumulated based on day to day work activities will be assessed against the National Occupation Standards, candidates will be supported in the generation of this evidence to fill any gaps and assist in the completion of the units. Candidates are required to attend 1 induction day and 6 focus days and will be subject to 2 on-site observations. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to access an online facility called eNVQ, a simple way to submit evidence, speed up the process of obtaining feedback from assessors and access important information and updates 24 hours a day.
