Building Control Surveyors can work in either the private sector or within Local Authorities. They work directly with the client, designer and developer throughout the project to ensure that the completed building meets the minimum standards required in terms of health, safety, energy conservation and water use. Occasionally, they will have to take formal legal action to ensure that buildings which fail to comply with legislation are rectified.
In the public sector these surveyors may also deal with making dangerous buildings safe and for general safety at public venues including football stadia.
