Architects

ArchitectArchitects are responsible for turning a client’s idea into reality. The Architect will consider the appearance, choice of materials and usability of the building, taking into account a number of standards and legislation which govern the
building process.

Many Architects also become involved with the restoration and adaptation of older buildings, retaining important features to give older buildings a new lease of life. Most building designs are now carried out using computer aided design (CAD) software, however Architects will often need to read and understand drawings of older buildings which have been prepared by hand. Architects may also be responsible for co-ordinating and managing others involved in the design and construction process and will need to be able to solve problems as they arise.
