



Beryl has been on Council on several occasions, currently having been elected in 2005 as Vice President, to serve as President commencing May 2009. Her main duties relate to Council and as part of the Presidential Committee. She also gives seminars/tutorials from time to time and represents the ABE to outside bodies and at various functions.
Beryl is Director of Menzies Partners Chartered Surveyors and practice as a Fire Safety Consultant. Born in London, Beryl currently lives in North Essex with her husband Ian, a Chartered Building Surveyor, and their two teenage sons.
After leaving school, Beryl joined the Greater London Council Building Regulations Division. She subsequently transferred to Building Control at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, where she specialised in matters of fire and life safety, reviewing innovative and complex designs in the development of Docklands.
In 1991 Beryl became an independant fire consultant and has been involved in major projects in various parts of the country; City and Docklands developments, residential developments, hotels, theatre (Hull Truck Theatre), exhibition complexes, hospitals, sports stadiums (including Wembley National Stadium), museums (including the Victoria and Albert Museum), schools, colleges (Corpus Christi) and shopping malls. Her clients include both the public and private sectors.
Beryl was a member of the BRAC (Building Regulations Advisory Committee of the Department for Communities and Local Government) Working Party, which undertook the review of Approved Document B. She is also a member of the CIC Regulatory Advice Committee and CIC Approved Inspectors appointment and renewal panel.
